Where Can I Get Locally Grown Food, Produce and Meat in Auburn, CA?

January 30, 2017
Sterling Jackson

If you live in or near Auburn and are looking for farm fresh food, you're in luck. Auburn has lots of great options for organic local produce, vegetables, eggs, meat and other foods. There are also several community supported agriculture options.

Hillview Farms

Lots of organic vegetables plus some fruit, herbs and flowers.

Founded in 2012, this family owned farm grows more than 50 varieties of fruits and vegetables using sustainable practices including no pesticides or sprays, crop rotation, no-till, cover cropping and beneficial habitats. They believe that healthy soil = healthy families = healthy communities and I don't disagree. There is plenty of evidence that backs this philosophy.

Hillview's mission statement is that they grow vegetables because they want to bring together their community through an appreciation of local food, to leave the world a little better than they found it and finally, because they love cooking with organic veggies.

Moore Natural Ranch

Turkey, lamb, pork, chicken and eggs.

Founded in 1980, this family owned ranch raises heritage breeds that are free of antibiotics, growth hormones and confinement. Their livestock are fed vegetarian diets supplemented with non-GMO grain, graze seasonal pastures and enjoy a humane, holistic environment closer toward their natural habitat.

The Moore family is committed to sustainability and raises heritage breed livestock that were traditionally used for food production but have fallen out of favor under the demand of the agricultural revolution because heritage livestock takes longer to mature than commercial meat.
